“Monkton Barn Estate is a family-run business, founded in 2010 by Peter and Wendy Aldiss. With roots in Marlow spanning more than 40 years, our story is closely tied to the local landscape and a long-held passion for celebrating life’s milestones.
In 2003, while exploring the surrounding countryside, we discovered Monkton Barn. The ancient buildings, the tunnel of overhanging horse chestnut trees, and the far-reaching views across the Chilterns immediately captivated us.
Monkton has been our home for over 20 years and is the place where we have raised our family. It has hosted countless special moments for us, and it is a genuine pleasure to share the magic of Monkton with others.

BORN FROM A LOVE OF ENTERTAINING
Our love of hosting is at the heart of our story. In 2007, an unexpected foray into hospitality came when we volunteered to host a summer fundraiser for our children’s school. The success of that evening – filled with community spirit and joyful celebration – revealed what truly inspired us: creating thoughtful, memorable experiences centred around wonderful food.
From Monkton’s humble beginnings to the present day, our team has continued to shape every event into a carefully considered culinary experience, designed to delight, surprise and bring people together.
THE STORY OF MONKTON BARN ESTATE
Monkton Barn Estate has a rich history dating back to the 15th century, originally beginning life as a working farm. Monkton Barn itself was built in the 18th century and has played many roles over the years, from storing grain and housing horses to serving as a military hospital during the Second World War and later a dance hall.
Today, Monkton Barn remains the very heart of the estate and has evolved into a timeless and charming setting including meadows and woodland for celebrations of every kind
